Children in Poverty Within the US
|
74,000,000 children live in the United States. 30,000,000 (~41%) live in poverty, with only 1 book per 300 students.
Low income families face 7 times greater dropout rates than students from families with higher income, less than 30% enroll in a 4 year school, of those, only 50% graduate.
These are real problems and require real solutions. Donating to a book drive, or donating food once a month won't help the problem, it will only provide short-term, short-lived relief.
Scientific Minds of America is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which was created in 2015, and is run by youth leaders, who influence underserved youth from a young age (K-12) until high school graduation, allowing for community change through dynamic youth-to-youth, structured sessions in over 30 subjects, which range from 1-day, to multiple weeks.
